Tinman Elite Winter Recap

Olympic Marathon Trials, Indoor Racing, and the return of HAX Altitude Camp

It’s been a busy start to 2024 for Tinman Elite. Between the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, snagging spots at World Cross Country Championships, indoor track racing, our team summit, and the return of HAX Altitude Camp this summer, we’ve had our plates full. But we wanted to make sure nothing got lost in the shuffle, so we’ve put together a quick recap.

🏖️ 🏃‍♂️ U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials 🏃‍♂️ 🏖️

Our Marathon Men showed up and showed out in Orlando. Reed came home in 2:11:34 to finish 9th and Connor finished in 2:13:03 for 12th, a nearly 3 minute PB. They ran stride for stride with one another for the bulk of the race, and both closed hard in the last 5K to move themselves up the field and well outperform their rankings heading into the race. Watch the recap video from the race above, our guy Max really knocked this one out of the park.

After a nice break, Reed and Connor are both eyeing races in March. Reed will race at the United Airlines NYC Half on 3/17 and Connor will head back to the track as he races the Sound Running 10,000m on 3/16.

🔁 The Track Folk 🔁

Katie Camarena kicked off her TME racing career in style this winter. In the past few months, she’s ran an indoor 5,000m personal best and earned a spot to represent Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia next month.

  • Sound Running 10,000m - 3/16

  • World Cross Country Champs - 3/30

Anthony Camerieri has been on an identical tear. Anthony finished 8th at the USATF Cross Country Champs, earning himself a spot on Team USA in Serbia. He also nabbed an indoor PB in the 5,000m, running 13:27 at BU a couple weeks ago. These new kids are on fire.

  • Sound Running 1,500m - 3/16

  • World Cross Country Champs - 3/30

Antonio Lopez-Segura has been putting in the hard yards this indoor season. Hailing from Spain, Antonio’s schedule looks a bit different than his American teammates, but he’s been no less successful. He wrapped up 2023 with an indoor 5,000m PB and a road 10K PB.

Up next:

  • Spanish 10,000m Championships - 3/2

  • Sound Running 10,000m - 3/16

Austin Miller is BACK after working through injury this fall. And he’s back with a vengeance. TME’s resident ‘fast guy’ wasted no time getting to work, running a mile PR of 3:56.7 in his first race in over six months. Austin will be prioritizing fast 1,500s this season as he works to qualify for his first U.S. Olympic Trials in June.

Up next:

  • Sound Running 1,500m - 3/16

Savannah Shaw keeps the PR train rolling. She’s raced a handful of indoor track meets in 2024, highlighted by an indoor 5,000m PB at BU two weeks ago. Now wrapped up with her indoor racing, she’s turning her sights to the outdoor season where she’ll look to qualify for her first Olympic Trials.

Up next:

  • Hunkering down in Boulder and getting stupid fit.

Joey Berriatua continues to be Mr. Consistent. In his indoor track campaign, Joey narrowly missed his 5,000m PB by 1 second, snagged a third place finish at UW, and stacked months of strong-man training. We’re excited to see what he can do over barriers this season.

Up next:

  • Stanford Invite Steeple - 3/30

  • B.A.A. 5K - 4/13

  • Drake Relays Steeple - 4/26

Drew Hunter has been pushing himself out of his comfort zone, focusing on getting strong this winter. Highlighted by a top-10 finish in the 10K at USATF Cross Champs, Drew’s increased volume and lengthier workouts seem to be doing the trick. We’re excited to see him dabble in some new distances this outdoor season.

Up next:

  • Sound Running 10,000m - 3/16

  • B.A.A. 5K - 4/13

Sam Parsons returned to racing this winter after working through Achilles issues this fall. We’re excited to see him back and mixing it up with some big names again. His indoor campaign was highlighted by a 13:19 5,000m at BU, but he’s not quite done with 200m tracks yet…

Up next:

  • The Armory 2 Mile - 3/2

  • Sound Running 1,500m - 3/16
